hello everyone,
i have a list of gi accession ids:
e.g.
gi|5104821|dbj|AP000061.1|
gi|5104188|dbj|AP000060.1|gi|5105654|dbj|AP000063.1|gi|26793562|emb|AJ525326.1|ATH525326
etc.

is it possible to parse through their summaries available at

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=Nucleotide

to retrieve gene and chromosome names, if available?

Asking once is enough. ;-)

Could you describe the data you want from that url for those of us with little or no knowledge of the problem domain. For example, I ASSume you want a script that uses a number like 5104821 above as data in the form at the url above. That will return a page. What data do you want from that page?

Randy.
