Belenix is good, however 0.7.1 is quite old in terms of apps running on
there so perhaps wait till the stable version of 0.8 gets released....

Perhaps try OpenSol or SXCE to get a feel for ZFS and Solaris then using
the install script from Moinak create a new instance of Belenix within
the Osol filesystem as ZFS allows for different pools or instances of
OS's which I think are chrooted (plz correct if I'm wrong here!!).

Belenix has a wide range of software and should grow too depending on
how many people come forward and claim they need something but one can
always compile on it no probs as long as libraries and devel files are
sufficient versions.

Perhaps go for external NAS RAID system if large amount of data, such as
a Netgear Pro NAS which supports upto 9TB..... or external file server.
Also if you need lot's of processing power perhaps go for a Dual socket
Quad core Xeon system which would be a workstation not server!! With
full blown GUI too. A while back Moinak claimed that Nvidia was best
supported under UNIX so definitely GPU to consider. ATI has issues and
Intel isn't really very powerful.

Another idea maybe to try Linux as it has many applications already
available and you might even want to get rid of your Win system as GIMP
and cinelerra as well as others can do photo/video manipulation..... -
unless you hardcore and want Apple OSX with Final Cut Pro and Photoshop.

Also wide range of H/W support too.... btw BSD also has ZFS although not
as up to date as Solaris ZFS but is another option!!
