Coordination Plan
==================
IMO, when the number of modules is large, submitting files via (a
somewhat unreliable) mailing list makes it difficult to track them later
on, unless they are immediately sent into a version tracker.
However, CVS/SVN and similar stuff are either
a) an overkill for the job
b) requires a steep learning curve.
I propose a simple FTP based system for keeping track of things:
Each translator would have the right to upload (and delete) files into a
FTP server (the contents of which can be accessed by anyone over HTTP).
The directory structure of this server would be like

|-- first_draft
|-- machine_translated
`-- reviewed
The "first_draft" directory will store files which have not yet been
reviewed by a person other than the last translator.
The "machine_translated" directory will store files which have been
translated using Anubadok. Ideally all the present candidate files
should first go through Anubadok and reside in this directory. This
should make the job of the subsequent (human) translator much more
easier. Golam - is this feasible right now ?
The "reviewed" directory would be a placeholder for reviewed files - and
these files would be candidates for immediate commits into the GNOME
CVS.
Speaking of CVS, anyone who has an account in GNOME CVS can submit files
in the "reviewed" directory into the official GNOME source tree. This is
valid until the 20th of August. After that, one can also commit files in
the first_draft directory into CVS, but, please do so carefully, only
and only if, it is absolutely essential.
AFAIK, only RunaB and SDG have GNOME CVS access.
Regarding the FTP server, unfortunately, sourceforge does not provide
FTP services. I can provide some space at l2c2.org. If it is OK with
everyone, I can make the required accounts and stuff by tomorrow
(Monday). Any translator who wants write access to the system can mail
me privately.
It will be better to SFTP on bengalinux.sf.net - IMHO.
Yes, S/He have to be a sf.net user first - I think we all are.
And, finally, with respect to semi-translated PO files - if you are
interested in completing a specific file, please send a mail to the
original translator (CC-ing this mailing list), announcing your
intention to do so. If you do not get a reply within 36 hours (or if the
mail bounces twice), the file is yours :-).
Agreed. But if someone take a leave for long period and can't check email
then s/he *must* inform before leaving.
Hopefully this clears up everything. I'm really sorry about the mess
that I have created - hopefully we will get Bangla to supported status
in GNOME 2.12 once again.
