I don't know about the cancer.

I do know there are other cancers reduced by neutering and spaying, so
perhaps it is an even trade. :-)

I can tell you that an animal neutered early tends to grow a little tiny bit
taller than an animal from the same lines left intact. Gelded horses are the
number one group you see in the top of all the various horse sports--since
most geldings are done at a developmental stage comparative to pre-6 months
in dogs, I think at least there we can see no evidence of joint problems or
stunted growth, etc.

Nessie the Newfie is about the same size as her mother (140 lbs); she is one
of the larger girls from the litter, but not either shockingly larger or
smaller than her female relatives. Lliira is a little larger than all of the
intact sisters and half sisters I've met, but not by much.
