Training for draft work and draft tests certainly has paid off in Raven's therapy work. Today she hauled the cookie delivery wagon around the Salt Lake VA Hospital, continuing a tradition for my department. Our therapy staff brought in cookies and other goodies and made up plates for the various work stations throughout the hospital. Though the cookie plates did not make a heavy load, we certainly tested her maneuvering skills. She had to back the cart onto an elevator and make pivot turns in the hallway several times. I do admit to using a tight leash a few times, since some of the doorways were barely 2" wider than her cart. We just went throughout the main building of the hospital but she was on duty about an hour, and kept her antler headband on the entire time! She was a huge hit with patients and staff, and put smiles on lots of faces. I am so proud of my girl, both for her carting skills and her love of her work.
Pat, I know you don't remind us of the brag fund when therapy dogs are involved, but it seems I turned this into a draft dog brag. Darn, guess I am now obligated to send in a brag check and get some of those raffle tickets! Vicky Hall and Raven, happily carting in Utah
