Laurel's Kennel name Kasablanca's Grand Slam came from the breeder, who
used themes for her litters, and this litter was for card games/poker
hands. She gave her the "Grand Slam" because I am a bridge player and
that's the best hand you can have. But doesn't really lend itself to a
good call name. I decided to bring her home and get to know her
personality before coming up with a call name. It didn't take long...
Within about 3 days this 15 lb terror had managed to demolish every one
of the laurel bushes on my 2+ acre property. It was a natural!

Bailey came to me with that name as a rescue girl, and I thought she
didn't need to get used to a new name in addition to a new home. Only
confusing thing now is I already have a Bailey, one of my ancient cats.
But since cats - at least mine - don't respond to anything unless they
feel like it anyway, it has not been a problem. Of course have multiple
"Baileys" has fouled up the vet records no end, but that's another
story...
