You may want to try setting the BPS back up using MSDE instead and see if this 
solves the issue.

My setup is almost the same except I am using MSDE and cut the RAM back to 1 GB 
after monitoring usage for a few weeks. WS2k3 Pro is running on an ESX host.

Our performance is what you describe you used to have; email generally hits my 
BB before it hits my desktop.

Perhaps for the smaller number of users, SQL2005 is overkill and the bottleneck 
in your setup.

Hello Jacob,

Yes, the BPS and SQL Server 2005 are on the new machine.This server is
dedicated entirely to BPS, there is nothing else running on it.
Resources being used right now run about 8 to 10 percent. It is
running under VMWare server. We only have a handful of users, so
traffic is not overwhelming.
