Jorge,
Lots of thanks for your email and apologies for my mistake!

I have re-checked, and found that withdrawal of the Type 7 and Type 8 routes
mentioned in your email have been defined in RFC 9251.

Regards,
Sasha

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: A question about withdrawal of EVPN Type 7 and Type 8
routes in RFC 9251

Hi Sasha,

As you can imagine, they need to be withdrawn when the local state they
advertise is no longer present:

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-sajassi-bess-rfc9251-00#name-local-igmp-mld-membership-r<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-sajassi-bess-rfc9251-00#name-local-igmp-mld-membership-r>

“When a PE, either DF or non-DF, deletes its local IGMP Membership Request
(x,G) state for that (ES,BD),
it MUST withdraw its BGP IGMP Membership Report Synch route for that (ES,BD).”

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-sajassi-bess-rfc9251-00#section-6.2.2<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-sajassi-bess-rfc9251-00#section-6.2.2>

“When the Maximum Response Time timer expires, a PE that has advertised an IGMP
Leave Synch route withdraws it.”

Hope it helps.
Thanks.
Jorge

Hi all,
RFC 9251 defines the rules for advertisement of Type 7 and Type 8 routes, and
their processing.
However, I have not found any mention in the RFC of the conditions when these
routes are withdrawn by the originating PE.

Does this ever happen? If not, are these routes supposed to stay forever in the
BGP In-RIB and Local RIB of the receiving PEs?

Regards, and lots of thanks in advance,
Sasha
