As I mentioned during the IETF 124 BESS session, I was trying to understand the scenario better. I had later run into Prasad who has helped me talk through my concerns a bit better. My concern was whether the UDP port number could be confused by the receiving implementation to try to do single hop BFD behaviors rather than appropriate EVPN behaviors. However, we have existence proof for MPLS (RFC 5884) and VxLAN (RFC 8971) that UDP port 3784 can successfully be dispatched by the implementations through their respective encapsulations. Thus, I see no specific problem with similar reuse for EVPN. -- Jeff _______________________________________________ BESS mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
