Thanks, that does work. 

My concern remains greater: why should it be necessary, as another responder 
suggested, to look up previous messages in the list archive? Why isn't such 
information at hand -- in the version release notification or in the product 
itself?

I regularly update many programs, both GUI and command-line executables, 
for-fee and for-free. I don't think I've experienced any as obscure to manage 
updates or get complete documentation about as is the case with J.

I know that testing a beta is different from running a released version, but as 
I've indicated elsewhere, finding out basic things about J (other than the 
primitives, etc., as in the Help system) is anything but direct and simple.
