At this time the most successful workaround seems to be temporarily
attaching your SB3 using an ethernet cable until the update is
complete.  Then you should be able to return it to wireless operation.

I'm working with our internal and external developers on this bug.

This bug should be fixed. The new slimproto disconnect detection was still checking players that went out for a firmware update, so if it took longer than ~15 seconds to download + upgrade the firmware, it would disconnect the player, causing it to reconnect without finishing the upgrade.
