Since 6.5.4 there was always a facility when certain debug flags have been set to show the CMD window to see socketwrapper and mplayer log messages ?
How is SC running at startup, at login or manually ? Have you changed how you run SC (e.g. befoe 31/10at startup but 31/10 at login ?
