>If you have more than one untagged album, that 'No Album' album becomes >quite a mess. > No Album is just one big compilation album, and like any other compilation it can be accessed in different ways. Via an Artist (only shows No Album songs by that artist), via No Artist (only shows No Album songs by No Artist), or via a Genre, Year, etc. Best of all, you can go to Artists > Various Artists > No Album, which will show all songs that have an artist with a No Album (i.e. all singles).
Hence there's: Artists > Various Artists > No Album - for songs that have an artist without an album name Artists > No Artist > No Album - for songs where there's no artist. Or you can browse to a particular artist, and see a No Album for that artist, just like appearances on a compilation album. So all songs by an artist are visible under Browser Artist > [artist] - all of the artists albums, appearances on compilation albums, and singles (no album). If you have a large collection with many "singles", then it can get a bit long, but it's just working the same as any other large compilation album. Nb. There was some talk a long time ago that No Album should be treated the same as "the Greatest Hits" issue. i.e. each folder that has No Album songs should be treated as a different No Album album. If the user were to set COMPILATION=0 for all No Album songs, then I think they would end up with many "No Album" abums of the same name, just like "Greatest Hits". But then we'd just have hundreds of No Album albums in the list of albums. >- Browsing Genres, the album shows up under 'No Genre > No Artist > No Album'. >- Browsing Artists, the album shows up under 'No Artist > No Album'. > Which is what I said last time Mr Sinatra didn't listen to me, but I think he doesn't browse the library in this way (only ever browse by album). >- Browsing Albums, the album doesn't show up at all and the album and >track counts are reduced. > Which I would say is a bug - surely songs should appear under Browse Albums as No Album by Various Artists. I thought it used to (I don't Browse Albums very often). Maybe someone has actioned an enhancement request to purposely hide it? _______________________________________________ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
