I think many users browse by genre, as it limits the albums to scroll through
to a type of music the user wants to play. I do it quite frequently, eg. if I
only want to find a quiet album to play in bed when I can't sleep, I Browse
Genres > Ambient.

I wouldn't say that there was a most popular browse method - I can see all
methods being used a lot. eg. Many users like New Music, to find stuff they've
recently added. Quite a lot of users apparently still use Browse Music Library!

You can clear fields, but it just removes that tag from the file, i.e. rather
than write TALB=<blank>, it won't put a TALB tag in the file. (Hence the
concern that it would then read some other lower-priority tag that it was
previously masking).
