Interesting thread, if a little esoteric on the 'options vs defaults'
:D

My single objection with the Duet is that it is far too easy to delete
the current playlist.

On no other system or application I own does pressing play delete the
playlist. This is not standard behaviour and is contrary to the user
expectation. Pressing play in other systems and applications generally
causes the playlist to be played. This is the expected behaviour.
It's why my guests are so surprised when they realise that they've
deleted a playlist someone else has spent time building up.

Now that we've got the central button deleting the playlist too, then
it's unusable for anyone who's not used to the 'quirks' of operation.
The central button is for selecting options, not for suddenly playing
the highlighted track at the expense of the playlist.

For me, 7.3's party mode was excellent. The solution arrived at was a
good workaround and was easy to turn on and off. It's why I've gone
back to 7.3 even though I love the new interface.

Let me know when party mode makes it back into a future version and
I'll upgrade.
