I updated to 7.6 SVN rev 32243, to see if scanning was any more reliable yet.

NB. I am currently trying to use SQLite; although the following was my
experience with either SQL engine last time I tried.

I ran the server up, and it tried to auto-rescan my library before I had chance
to tweak any settings (even though Settings > Advanced > Performance >
Automatically detect changes = Disabled).

Settings > Informaiton > Music Scan Details reported that it had discovered new
files, and started scanning new files. It also reported that it had finished
scanning, but the info page was still updating to show progress.

Eventually Perl crashed:
perl.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x02184364" referenced
memory at "0x12bf1058". The memory could not be "read".

Someone a while back suggested that perhaps the new scanner doesn't like
windows shortcuts. My root music folder contains a few shortcut links to
folders that contain my music (not recursive).

So I restarted, and SBS started to auto-rescan again. I changed my music
folder path to a sub-section of my library (avoid shortcut/links), which I
think caused the auto-rescan to stop and a new rescan to start.

The new scan seemed to start, but then it stopped reporting progress. On the
Basic Settings tab, the Rescan Music Library option was no longer disabled.

I forced a "Clear Library and Rescan Everything", and the same thing happens.
Information > Music Scan Details reports it is scanning, and also that it has
finished, but progress still seems to continue to get updated. The WebUI is
still reporting the old music library content.
