In the past we've seen a lot of complaints about the OSX PrefPane not
being 64-bit, thus requiring to restart the System Preferences in 32-bit
mode. The reason for this limitation was our attempt to be compatible back
to 10.4. But it's probably time to move on now.
As we've already re-written the PrefPane for UEML, and replaced our custom
installer with a standard .pkg file (which can be signed), I decided to
take a stab at back-porting this to 7.8. So here we go:

It's a quick job I did. Some of the migration code we had up to LMS 7.7
(migrate from SlimServer to SqueezeCenter to SB Server to LMS) is no
longer in there, but you should be able to install it on top of an
existing LMS 7.x installation. Other known limitation: this package
requires OSX 10.5.
Please give it a spin and let me know how it works for you. If it's not
too badly broken, I'll merge this back to 7.8. Thanks!
