Michael Thanks for this. I broke the golden rule and just tried this on my one-and-only server before hearing anyone else's experiences. It's all good though. The installer package has successfully installed LMS 7.8 over my previous 7.7.1, on a Mac Mini running 10.6.8, and the pref pane now loads quickly without the prompt to restart in 32-bit mode.
A couple of small oddities I think. I hadn't stopped LMS before running the installer, and half way through it prompted me to stop the server. I went to the pref pane and found that the server had already shut down, so I went back to the installer, clicked OK (to continue, so I thought), and got an error message that the installation was unsuccessful. I re-ran the installer and it all went through without a hitch the second time. I did notice a difference the second time though - it prompted me for which users to install the package for, which I didn't notice on the first run through. LMS 7.8 seems to be working fine.
