Is it difficult to upgrade the SQLite libraries to the latest? Any potential downside?
Please see a little up this thread. It looks pretty easy, but is a lot of work to compile for all platforms. Biggest downside (besides the work): the unknown. We don't know about side-effects it could bring us.
I'm currently running my main server on the latest SQLite version to get a feeling for potential compatibility issues.
My question is: what are the expected advantages? Sure, performance. But when reading the changelog, I'm under the impression that most of the major performance improvements are for specific cases only. Whether we hit any of those, I don't know.
For example, my suggestion of every album having a contributor or contributors in the ALBUMARTIST role would speed up the generation of album lists. This could be had at a very slight increase in scanning time.
Do you have any data proving this statement? I'm just asking, I have no idea myself. But it's a rather bold statement.
