A quick summary of the problem would be: When browsing by Album Artist, only 'full' albums and compilation albums where an artist is a track artist are listed; but non-compilation albums where they're track artists are not. When browsing by All Artists, the album lists are shown correctly.
IMHO this is working as designed. You're filtering by role "albumartist". Why would you want to find albums on which they are not of this role? Would you expect to see any of an album artist's contributions to any album, even if he wasn't the album artist there?
