First activate the beta channel in the Package Center. Synology provides
the latest 7.9.0 but is hidden in the beta channel. It is recommended to
install this version over the 7.7.6 version.  See if this fixes the
problem. If not report back in this thread (after upgrading to 7.9.0 you
would be at the right place). ;)

If scanning takes a long time, most of the time it has to do with some
files bugging the scanner. A scanner log would be helpful to solve the
problem. You can find it in the Webui -> settings -> information (at the
bottom of the page).
