Hello again, I have updated the patch<http://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=33573&group_id=9&atid=127>with lots of changes resulting from all the discussions on the BlenderArtists thread<http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?275390-Simplified-Header-Statistics-Display>. The response has been overwhelmingly positive.
