I'll second the recommendations for Pandemic and Cash n Guns (especially if you make a copy yourself!)
I'll add in Alhambra, so long as you're playing with less than 5. 5 or 6 and the tension evaporates completely, but 3 or 4 and it's quite excellent. And still one of my favourite 2-players, though that isn't what you're looking for. Also, check out both Ra and Modern Art -- lots of auction goodness that should clock in around an hour. I prefer Modern Art, but your mileage may vary. Cheers!
