While Vlaada is my favorite designer, I think Prophecy is his weakest game. Its a fantasy quest game that has a lot in common with good ol' Talisman, but there's a lot more control in terms of movement. There's a very interesting system of building up skills, and less random hosage in the events. That's all pretty good, but the game runs pretty long and towards the end its hard to do much to keep powering up your character.
Probably better if you plan on playing with only 2-3 players; I think it would really drag with more than that. The Dragon Realm expansion adds a co-op version, if that's to your taste, but it doesn't feel well implemented. Plus, the expansion has some major misprints; one of the dragon paths is printed wrong, and there aren't enough race cards. If you don't have an old fashioned style adventure game, this could be a solid choice. If you've already got and like Talisman, Return of the Heroes, Runebound or one of the WoW games this may be redudnant. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BGG Down" group.
