Friends,

As u know i am working on Hyderabad ORR project as an engineer, i want to
share my experience to you which held our heart beats for a while because of
media.

last weekend, on friday i.e., 07.05.2010 while i am going to office i and my
husband met with an accident with injuries we have taken the first aid and
came back to home. had taken rest the whole day taking some antibiotics and
pain killers and at night 10:00 PM my husband is watching the world
cup cricket match and suddenly while i was changing the channels i am
shocked to see scrolling in almost all the news channels like NTV, TV9 etc
etc in about 6 channels that the

*bridge under constuction collapsed in ORR Project
*overpass under construction collpased in ORR Project
*pillar under construcion collapsed in ORR Project
*pier beam in construction got collapsed in ORR project

these are the scrolling and that too it is reported in the stretch where we
are working. i called my office manager @ 10:30 night and myself with Team
leader, office manager with other engineers visited the site and to our
surprise we observed that the scaffolding (the platform used for the workers
to walk to reach the pillar top position) was collapsed and the workers
(4) who is working at that time were injured and immediately shifted to the
hospital by the Contractor rescue team.

by 11:00 PM almost we received calls from our project director, Client -
Project Director, Municipal Comissioner, Chief secretary and Chief Minister
as well.

what i really dont understand is

1. The media person who is on job does'nt know what is a part of structure
and what is scaffolding? the most worst thing is that he does not want to
know what really has happened before reporting for display in tv?
** I dont say that he must be a civil engineer but he should have a basic
knowledge on what he is reporting. atleast he can also get details from the
contractor superviser but he cannot say what ever he feels by seeing on
site.

2. even the management of the media is also not intrested in the saying
truth to public. they just want ratings.
**few days back i have read the interview of Ramgopal Verma saying about the
media (regarding teh state separation) what is the news and how the media is
projecting it to public and now after my experience i feel thats right.

i hope by now if Journalism is their passion but not business they will
realise what they are reporting.

with regards,
Rochana
