MLA gets 3 yrs

A Delhi Court on Tuesday awarded three years jail term to a
sitting Congress MLA and three
others in a seven-year-old attempt to murder case.

also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 each on the convicts including Congress
MLA from Rajouri Garden
Dayanand Chandila.
The court, however, granted them bail on
furnishing a personal and surety bond of Rs 30,000 each.
It had on Friday convicted the accused-- Chandila
and Nawab Singh, Meghraj and Manoj under Section 307 (attempt to murder)
and other provisions of the IPC.
An FIR was registered with Tilak Nagar
Police Station on December 11, 2003 on a complaint by Sudesh Chandela
alleging that the accused had tried to kill him.
According to the complaint, the accused
had attacked Chandela following a quarrel over lending money to a man.
