Hi Sher,
Ofcourse, there is nothing personal in our discussions.

Quite frankly, I do not know how to demonstrate my love for India. However, I
believe it is something that should tell from our actions, we need not wear it
on our sleeves.

Why do you ask me to do a project report on giving ID cards to citizens ? A
government project for the same is already underway ! Also, there is no direct
linkage between ID cards and human development. Finally, it is the legislators,
the judiciary, the bureaucracy; indeed every arm of government, that has to
act, and act fast. And to galavanize them into action, we need RTI activists -
That is how this argument began, anyway.

When I referred to "Utopia", it was in the context of the relevance of RTI
activists. Also, all  the countries you have mentioned have very active
activists.

I rest my case.

Thank you.

Dear Mukesh Thanks for reply to my mail.
Mr Mukesh , it is not personal but I am asking these qustions for understanding
how senstive your are for India.
What do you understand by India?
1.Political Geography-land ,rivers, borders.
2.People of India
3.Pride in anything belonging to India and its people-Culture, civilization and
traditions of India.
4.Combinations of all three.
If answer is 4,
My next qustion is where we stand in comity of nations for cause of pepole(
human index) in last or in first.
If your answer is last.
My next qustion is How much expenditure is done by Government for making an
IITIAN?
If you know the answer, my next question is how much you owe to each Indian who
paid for your education. From 1965 people of India are paying for IITIAN.

Now tell me after your scientific calculation how much money it will be if you
provide him ID.
If you can calculate the cost and if you can tell me whether he desreves at
least ID.

I believe if you give him ID , he will be empowered to decide what sort of
people should govern. And these will be right pepole.

Also please tell me America,Canada, England are utopian states?.

Man we are asking what we are due to have as ctizen.Only ID.

And if you can provide ID, I am confident you will release tremedous energies
of People of India making our Nation as proud in every field.

If you are not convinced , you can take a project of calculating of saving of
money due to ID by security at every place, reduction of documentation for and
transactions.  tickets, passport, banking, rations cards, employment where in
name of identfication a lot of resources are wasted.I do not say  you believe
me whatever I said. However I expect at least a thought from you.

Also if you have time , pl calculate how many jobs will be created if you
decide to provide ID to every Indian citizen.

with regards
Sher

Hi Sher,

To an extent, I share your anguish. Yes, indeed, why should a handful of people
don the mantle of “protectors” and “right-doers” to safeguard others ?   In a
Utopian state, there is no need for such people; but remember, India is no
Utopia.

In India , even in this age and time, exploitation and oppression of the weak
does take place because of the great divide between the haves and the
have-nots. If you leave aside all metros and mini-metros,  you will find  that
the people are just not empowered. They have to run from pillar to post for
every small thing. Let alone small towns, even in places like Lucknow
exploitation takes place : the sexual harassment of women hockey players is a
case in hand.

And yet, nobody wants to correct the situation. Everbody is only interested in
getting his job done, through fair means or foul, and let others go to blazes.
Hence, if some one wants to take up the cudgels for others – whether RTI
activist or some other activist- they should be lauded and applauded. These are
the people who took the plunge instead of indulging in ineffective coffee-table
discussion.

We need you RTI activist. My your tribe increase !!

Thank you.

I do not understand who are RTI activists.Informati on is simple.Even if you
call yourself Indian Citizen, Government does not know you are citzen of
India.Every institution demands your iidentity. The fact is when you are roaming
about on Indian soil , You are citizen.Treat every body with respect and help
him to grow, should be duty of Authority. Why wasting time in acts , murdering
activist.going legal, courts.Try for simple ID card , the people of India will
take care of thmeselves.Do not think that you being having advantage of being
educated in premium schools have extra responsibility for others. If you are
really serious for others pl help them to get ID one ID for every Citizen, then
you see they will take care of themselves when no authority ask thier identity
and everybody becomes good honest ctizen. In world such nations are
existing.Respect your fellow countrymen irrespective of thier position, status,
colour.professio n.
with regards,
Sher

Friends,

I find it very heartening to let you know that the National RTI Forum has now
got registered as a Public Charitable Trust under section 6 of the Indian
Trusts Act 1882 with me and Mr Amitabh Thakur as the two trustees. It was
registered in the officer of the Sub-Registrar; Lucknow through a deed executed
today, i.e. 12/07/2010.  The name of the Trust has been decided to be "National
RTI Forum”.

The principal office of the Trust shall be situated at 5/426, Viram Khand,
Gomti Nagar, Lucknow or such other place as the Trustees may from time to time
decide. The Trust may also carry on its work at any other place or places, as
decided by the Trustees.

All income, subscription and pecuniary donations for the general purposes of
the Trust and the income, investments and all other moneys from time to time
forming part of the general revenue of the
Trust shall on the same being received be paid into a banking account with any
scheduled bank for the purpose of the Trust.

The objects for which this trust is established are:
1.         To work in the field of Right to Information
2.         To make a sincere and genuine effort to bring all the RTI activists
together to act as a nodal body for all the RTI activists and activities.
4.         To look into all the matters related with RTI activists, including
their training, guidance, support and security related aspects.
5.         To work for legal awareness particularly in reference to RTI act
6.         To work in the field of legal reforms related
 with RTI Act
7.         To work for legal assistance for people in the field of RTI Act
8.         To edit, print, publish and distribute books, magazines, journals,
periodicals, brochures and/or any other audio or audio-visual material for
academic and non-academic (fiction and non-fiction) purposes related with RTI
Act
9.         To run suitable courses/ academic activities for RTI related matters
and syllabus
10.  To undertake all other activities relevant for Right to Information as a
movement
11.       To acquire moveable and immoveable property for the above-mentioned
purposes.
12.       To undertake any other activity incidental to
the above activities but which are not inconsistent with the above objects.

Thus National RTI Forum, which till now was working as an associate of the
Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS), a Society
registered under the Societies Registration Act 1861 now has an independent
legal status of its own. It shall be working exclusively in the field of Right
to Information.

One of the first works it has undertaken is to publish the “Journal for Right
to Information” for which we have already sent the letter for Title
verification to the Registrar of Newspapers for India through the District
Magistrate, Lucknow’s office. It might be the first magazine exclusively
devoted to Right too Information.

We most humbly solicit and request dear friends to give us Articles in Hindi or
English latest by 1st September 2010.

Dr Nutan Thakur,
Convener,
National RTI
 Forum,
