I wonder if a warning if the papers folder has been moved/renamed when you close a document would be helpful? You could stash away an FSRef of the folder path when the document opens, and compare with a new FSRef of the folder path when it closes. That might help users who move the folder while BD is open...although I'm not sure of all the possible failure modes.
