I've been using the 12 volt Dymotec system for about a year. It's a
great generator and puts out plenty of light for my purposes.
However, I've been plagued from the beginning with the headlight
flickering. When I first assembled it, the light wouldn't even remain
lit. At high speeds, it would turn off.

I put poor Peter White through a battery of complaints, sending the
generator and light back and forth to him. I finally decided it must
be the generator, and he sent me a new one. Same problem. I decided
to try changing the bulb, and, with a new bulb in the light, it only
flickered at a certain speed, around 8 or 9 miles per hour. I have to
say that Peter was very patient about taking things back for testing.
I didn't want to send the light in after making such a big deal over
the generator because all that shipping was cutting into my checking
account, and I felt that I had bothered Peter with the issue quite
enough.

I find that, after a year, it still bugs me. I'm thinking about
buying a new light, but I'm plagued by the thought that it isn't the
light either, that it's just me somehow, and I'll shell out the $82
for another light, and I'll find it still flickers.

I was also thinking of poking around the wiring in the light to see if
there is something loose, but I'm worried, since I don't know what's
in there, that I'll screw something up.

Has anyone out there had a similar problem with an Oval Plus
headlight? I'm worried, given its history, that it will fail one day
when I'm far from home. I know I should have a battery backup, but my
unerring tendency to have dead batteries in my headlights is what led
me to the dynamo.
