I am poking through my parts bin, trying to find a hub to use with a rim for a bike for my sister and I find myself wondering how many cogs will fit on a given hub. Both of the hubs I am looking at are Shimano hubs. I am guessing they will take 8 or 9 speed cassettes. I measured the distance on the flange that accepts the cassette and both are 33mm from the shoulder to the end of the ribs that keep the cassette from spinning inappropriately.
What is the right way to think about hubs and cassettes? I assume a 10-speed hub would have a longer cassette, no? Or do they all fit on all the hubs and the spacers and chains just get thinner? - Doug "Anonymous" Shaker --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Bicycle Lifestyle" group.
