The 76CSx is a marine unit which floats on water, which is a useful feature if you're on a boat. I also didn't trust the Apple-style non-user-replaceable batteries on the 705. As someone who frequently travels in places without power sockets, running on AAs is usually a much better deal (though again, the Gomadic solution works for the 705 now, so that's not really a good reason any more). The flip side is that the handlebar mount for the 76CSx is not nearly as good, which makes the effective weight more than twice as much.
