Careful measurement, and using a good center punch to set a spot for
the bit to settle into when starting to drill have always helped me
out. Glad to hear that you have your fenders installed successfully.
My criteria were for my install were reasonably even distance from the
wheel when viewed from the side, and most important, no rattling when
riding. I occasionally have to bend the stays on my VO fenders to get
things exactly lined up again if they get bumped.
