Fine points of labeling for when we start publishing publicly
available artifacts (RPM/DEBs, etc)
are yet to be determined. So far the only strong feedback we've got is
that we have to
be clear about incubating status of the project.

Obviously I can't speak for the entire Bigtop community, but my
preference would be to
take a page out of Linux distributor's book and piggy back off of the
released version
of the upstream projects. Just like a CentOS RPM for a released
version of GNU's gcc
would be gcc-<released version #>-<CentOS specific version ID>.<ID>.
