I received news last night from City Transportation Project Engineer Ahnaray Bizjak that the long-awaited Transportation Enhancement funds have been received, and the paving of the Badger State Trail in Fitchburg will start soon! The construction bid requests will go out next week, and work should be done by the end of the summer. The trail will be paved and three bridges will be redecked to a width of twelve feet, from Madison's Southwest Commuter Trail at the end of Allied Drive to Purcell Road at the Town of Oregon line. http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/badger/ Completing this section will create a continuous trail from Camp Randall to Freeport, IL.
