I work very close to this intersection and have been following this
incident today. One thing to note is that the Westbound traffic is given no
sign or warning to yield to oncoming bike traffic in the eastbound bike
lane. Now ignorance is no excuse but a sign could cut down on the frequency
of this happening.

given incomplete information before the incident report was posted. The
incident report does not state whether the motorist had a green light,
but *does* state that the bicyclist had a green light. That would imply a
failure to yield right-of-way on the part of the motorist.

the intersection of University Avenue and N. Randall Ave. The victim said
he was eastbound in the designated bike lane of University Avenue. He had
a green light to proceed through N. Randall Avenue. As he did, a 23-year
old man was turning his Toyota Camry from University Avenue onto N.
Randall Avenue. The cyclist hit the car and landed on the pavement. He
was treated at a local hospital for apparent non-life threatening
injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, and had no bike lights. No
citations were written at the scene. The case is under investigation."
