There will be a Democracy Convention (https://democracyconvention.org) in Madison from August 7 - 11, and the Earth Democracy Conference section of this event is looking for assistance to organize a bike ride/rally around the Capitol Square on Saturday, August 10. This ride would publicize opposition to Enbridge, the Keystone XL pipeline, and corporate fossil fuel power and abuses, and would be in conjunction with a rally planned on the State St corner of the Capitol at 1 PM. This would also be prior to the last session for the Earth Democracy Conference about next steps that will be at 2 that afternoon at MATC downtown (where the Convention is being held). I think there are also several lobbying offices on or near the Square and we might also stop in front of them to help publicize their activities and our concerns. Wisconsin has an Enbridge pipeline carrying tar sands sludge through Wisconsin that spilled last year, and Enbridge is proposing an expansion of the flow through this pipeline, adding even more to the threat. That's all the more reason we need a good turnout of dedicated activists for the bike rally which would be about noon to 12:30 PM. We can offer plenty of assistance in helping to make signs to attach to the bikes, or you can make (or reuse) your own. The plan is to ride around the Capitol at least a couple times to promote our concerns and the conference.
