Copies of police reports can be requested by the public. Information on how
to do that can be found
here<http://www.cityofmadison.com/police/support/records/>.
Records don't become fully public right away and while I do not recall the
typical length of the waiting period, that information is also available by
contact the records department via the page linked above.
