I bought the book from the State Historical Society based on a recent Bike Fed blog and it is an incredible account of cycling in Wisconsin. Have not read it through, but my perusal indicates this is a well-documented, well-written, picture-laden history of cycling in Wisconsin (and the impact it had on things like women becoming involved in cycling and lots of other topics nationally). Well worth the 30 bucks or so.

I attended a talk by the authors of "Wheel Fever" at the WI book festival. http://wheelfeverbook.com/about/ The book covers the early years of cycling in Wisconsin. It was pretty happening back in the 1890s! The talk was followed by a short bike tour where they pointed out local features. The Van Etta hotel, which used to be on King St., was a designed hotel for tourists. If you're interested in history, their website has links to lots of online resources. The WI Historical Society has all issues of "The Pneumatic" scanned. -- darin burleigh _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org
