=v= Good grief, "the left?"  Sounds like some sort of monologue
going on inside one's head, or perhaps it's a dialogue with the
teevee (one guess which "news" network).

=v= The State Senator behind this proposed law represents San
Gabriel Valley, which is wealthy and moderate.  The opposition
that's emerged in the last few days has mostly been from the
more liberal San Francisco Bay Area.  The statewide advocacy
group, FWIW, is opposed:

=v= As for stats, yeah, stats can be misused.  It takes some
scrutiny to see when that's going on.  Or, you know, one can
just throw one's hands in the air and flatly reject all of
them, the better to leave one's opinions intact.
