Madison Bike Week
June 1-8
The City of Madison, Madison Bikes and our numerous local partners invite you 
to join in celebrating Bike Week in Madison on June 1-8. Over 70 events will be 
a part of the 2019 Madison Bike Week and you can find them all on the Madison 
Bike Week

 Here are some highlights:

Ride the Drive - Sunday, June 2 from 11am to 3pm
In its 11th year, Ride the Drive is one of the premiere events of the summer in 
Madison. Stroll, roll, pedal or glide free from motor vehicle traffic on John 
Nolen Drive from Olin Avenue to E. Wilson/Williamson Streets along with 
Proudfit Street / N. Shore Drive beginning at W. Brittingham Place.

  *   This free event offers fun activities, food, and more at three downtown

 will be near Law Park with a fleet of adaptive bikes. There will also be free 
bike checks, food vendors and lots of activities for the whole family.

City Ride – Monday, June 3 at 7:45am
To celebrate the start of Madison Bike Week 2019, ride downtown with Mayor 
Satya Rhodes-Conway, Common Council members, and city staff. Meet at either 
Tenney Park or Crazylegs Plaza starting at 7:15am, to mingle, enjoy coffee and 
treats. Riders will depart just after 7:45am and converge at the Madison 
Municipal Building for a press conference at 8:30am. Event

Movie Night - Free Showing of Afghan Cycles on Monday, June 3 at 7pm
Afghan Cycles is a feature documentary about a generation of Afghan women who 
are pedaling their own revolution, aggressively challenging gender and cultural 
barriers using the bicycle as a vehicle for freedom, empowerment and social 
change. Showing at the Memorial Union Play Circle Theater. Event

Bike Commuter Stations - 7 to 9am Monday through Friday
Stations are located throughout Madison at a wide variety of locations so check 
the

 to see the locations each day. Don't miss out on your chance for Madison Bike 
Week staples like Bacon, Bratcakes, Waffles and Cold Brew. Many stations will 
also have bike checks to ensure your bike is in good working order.

Evening Commuter Stations - Monday through Friday
If you don't have time in the morning to stop at a commuter station there are 
some great events happening during the typical evening commute time - root 
beer, lemonade, pizza, fire station visits and more!

Pop-Up Bike Maintenance

  *   Tuesday from 5:30-7pm at Mendota Elementary School, 4002 School Rd
  *   Wednesday, from 5-6:30pm at Latino Academy of Workforce

Bike Week Celebration Party - Friday, June 7 from 5-8pm
Join in the celebration of all things bicycling in Madison at the Brittingham 
Park shelter. Food carts will be on hand and local non-profits will be there to 
share information. Free admission and family-friendly. Come get to know other 
local cyclists, meet members of Madison Bikes and find out more about cycling 
in Madison from City staff.

Recreational Rides
Local groups have planned a number of recreation rides during the week.

  *   Join Bombay Bicycle Club for road rides out of town or check the calendar

 for information on the 6:30am Lake Monona Loop ride on Tuesday.
  *   Girls Riding Together (GRiT) have a girl's mountain bike demo day

 on Saturday.
  *   Join Spoke Haven Tuesday evening for a women's social and ride

  *   If you've ever wanted to learn more about bike polo you are invited to 
try it on Tuesday at 6pm at Reynolds Park.
  *   The Latino Academy Educational Bike Rides kick-off on Wednesday at 6pm. 
Join Latino Academy learners while they practice English and get out for a bike 
ride.
  *   Tour de Sewer - Have you ever been curious about the Madison Metropolitan 
Sewerage District? If so, join them for a bike tour of the wastewater treatment 
plant. Tours happen at Noon and 4:30pm both Thursday and Friday and last about 
half an hour. Meet at the bicycle rest station on the Capital City Trail 
intersection at South Towne Dr.

any kiosk or in-app check out. Share this with a friend who doesn't have a bike 
or try out BCycle yourself!
  *   There are also opportunities to get discounts for shopping by bike or for 
doing a Ride Spot Challenge ride. All of these opportunities can also be found

Wisconsin DNR's Free Fun Weekend
