Subject: NIH Position Statement on the Use of dbGaP data in the cloud:
Released!

Dear All,

I know all of you have been anxiously awaiting the changes to allow the use
of dbGaP data in a cloud computing environment so I am very happy to let
you know that it is finally available!

More information and details about the NIH position on this matter can be
found through the links below.

The NIH Best Practices for Controlled-Access Data Subject to the NIH GDS
Policy<
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/gap/cgi-bin/GetPdf.cgi?document_name=dbgap_2b_security_procedures.pdf>,
which includes guidelines for cloud computing, is now available on the
dbGaP website, and the NIH Position Statement on the Use of Cloud Computing
Services for Storage and Analysis of Controlled-Access Data Subject to the
NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy<
http://gds.nih.gov/pdf/NIH_Position_Statement_on_Cloud_Computing.pdf> and
the Model Data Use Certification<http://gds.nih.gov/pdf/Model_DUC.pdf>
(that includes an addendum on Data Security and Data Release Reporting)
have been posted on the NIH GDS Policy website.

Please share broadly with your colleagues.

Best regards,

Vivien
