This morning on Airport Road heading to the Brantford Airport, 4 Grey Partridge on the ASCO Valve property. They were first seen near the south side parking lot but seemed to favour sheltering themselves from the cold by running under one of the three spruce trees on the north side of the building. On and off throughout the morning they would come out in to the open and sit in the bright sun, warming themselves, but when a vehicle or an anxious birder would get too close they would scurry as fast as their little feet would carry them to the cover of the low hanging branches, where they would wait for the coast to be clear and the intruder to go away. I was stationed about 200 yards up the street with a scope and watched this little act happen four or five times as curious birders would find them and get too close. It was pretty funny actually, and I couldn't decide who was more entertaining, the birds or the birders. By the way, I include myself in that group of hardy birders out in the cold wind today. I had been out to that area over 20 times and not seen one feather of a partridge before today. It made for a delightful couple of hours.
Also, on Robinson Rd. on the North side of the airport, you could find flocks of snow buntings and horned larks.
Brantford Airport is located on Highwy 53 just West of the City of Brantford. Robinson Road can be reached by turning North on Highway 24 off of Highway 53 on to 24 and then East on Robinson Road.
