RARE BIRDS:

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD still at feeders at #24 King Pitt Rd. From Nov. 21 to
Dec. 4 and counting? No report available today, Dec. 5. See Kingston East,
below for detailed directions.



AMHERST I. [page 36, quads E54 & 55]

Bruce Ripley reported for Dec. 1: At KFN Property: On Amherst Island on the
east end KFN property there was 1 DUNLIN, 2 HORNED GREBE, 1 AMERICAN PIPIT,
1 BRANT, 1 SNOWY OWL and a BALD EAGLE. In the Owl Woods there was 1 EVENING
GROSBEAK, 1 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL and about 30 (possibly more) LONG-EARED
OWLS.
Unfortunately, the day ended with an injured ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK which I
picked up and took to the Avian Care and Research Foundation. Kit Chubb
determined that the bird was beyond repair and it had to be "euthanized".


On Dec. 2 several KFN members saw 2 SNOWY OWLS on the fields on the KFN's
Property. They could be seen from the Lower Road. We saw 2 LONG EARED OWLS
in the Cedar woods and the Pine woods

KINGSTON EAST

An adult male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at 24 King Pitt Rd. about 3 km. East of CFB
Kingston.

CONDITIONS: The owners are birder-friendly. They request that visiting
birders not block any streets or driveways nearby Please visit in small
groups, 5 or 6 persons at a time are welcome to watch the hummingbird feeder
on the south side of the house from a distance of 20 ft.

Sylvia Naylor from Dianna St. (off King Pitt Rd.) Reported a CAROLINA WREN
and a BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD on Nov. 27.

PRINCE EDWARD POINT [page 35, quads G53, 53]

WOLFE ISLAND [page 36, quad E57]

On Dec. 3 The North Leeds Birders went to Wolfe I. We saw 1 adult BALD EAGLE
and about 100 TUNDRA SWAN. There was a large of ducks at the NE side of
Barrett Bay. of diving Ducks from the south end of the 11th Line. The flock
was estimated at about 1,500 mostly GR. SCAUP with about 25% REDHEAD and a
few LESSER SCAUP and RING-NECKED Ducks. A N. SHRIKE was atop a bush on the
east side of Hwy 96 near the Simcoe I. Ferry Rd. Another Shrike was spotted
near Base Line Rd and The 4th Line.

CARTWRIGHT POINT [P36, D56], {page 48 & 49, quad N20 & M21}

At Cartwright Point on Dec. 3, a CAROLINA WREN was calling and the female
RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER still visits our feeders irregularly @ 14 The Point
Rd. Last seen on Dec. 4.
