Hi Everyone
Yesterday, September 8,2004 I birded Amherst Island and Prince Edward Pt. On
Amherst Island I checked the KFN Property at the east end and found 15 species
of shorebirds but nothing unusual. Highlights were 1 Red Knot, 1 Ruddy
Turnstone, 3 Bairds Sandpiper and 1 Am. Golden Plover. The water level was low
in the ponds and a number of Greater Yellowlegs were successfully catching
small minnows.
At Prince Edward Point I spent 2 hours from 12:00 -2:00 p.m. at the
lighthouse doing a "lake watch" and observed 11 species of shorebirds, all
flying from west to east into the northeast winds. Highlights included 2
Buff-breasted Sandpipers, 1 Whimbrel, and 1 Baird's Sandpiper.

                                good birding
