There were 24 Great Gray Owls and one Barred Owl hunting the open fields off Muley Point this evening between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. then silhouetted sitting high in tall deciduous trees along the roads backed by a pink sunset and a mauve sky.

From the south on hwy 11 take the second exit (4th from the north) to Orillia (hwy 12 South) and follow hwy 12 through Atherley to Uptergrove. Continue along hwy 12 to the large Catholic Church on the left (St. Columbkille) and turn right onto Muley Point Road. Follow Muley Point Road south to the store at McRae Park Road/conc. 9 (good for owls) and then continue south to conc. 8. Muley Point Road goes right to Bonnie Beach Road (good for owls). Take conc. 8 west to sideroad 20 (owls) and follow it around to conc. 7. Turn left on conc. 7 and follow it north (more owls) to sideroad 15. Turn left on sideroad 15 and follow it back to hwy 12. At 9:21 the male Bald Eagle flew in and five minutes later the female came arrived. Although there still is no nest, the male was observed carrying sticks 7 times, and the female was observed carrying sticks 3 times. 9:21-10:00 AM. Directions: Take NY324 (Sheridan Drive) west to its extreme western terminus. At the last red-light before the Niagara River, continue through the red-light and in 20 yards take a left onto Aqua Lane. Take Aqua Lane to the warning signs not to proceed further and turn right to park and see Strawberry Island. In Fort Erie, Ontario, starting at the ice boom and traveling north along the Niagara River on River Road the following were observed: 342 Red-breasted Mergansers (mostly north of the ice boom) 450 Buffleheads 245 Common Mergansers 3,800 Greater Scaup 220 Common Goldeneye 183 Redhead 3415 Canvasback 26 American Black Duck 13 Ring-necked Duck 85 Tundra Swans 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls 1 American Wigeon At Niagara Falls, Ontario, above the Horseshoe Falls one Lesser Black-backed Gull and one Glaucous Gull were observed.
