With an increase of birders in the park, some of the hard to find rarities are
being found. Last night at 5;00pm, the three-toed woodpecker was found on the
Tulip Tree Trail. This is the fourth time the adult male has been found and
seen well.

This afternoon a glossy ibis was found along the first two kilometres of the
Marsh Trail. Not seen yesterday but today the spotted towhee turned up on the
Tulip Tree Trail.

Seventeen species of warblers have been tallied including northern parula,
orange-crowned warbler, yellow-breasted chat, hooded warbler, prothonotary
warbler, Wilson's warbler, and Canada warbler.

Other notable birds seen are 200 American golden plover and 15 black-bellied
plover at Erieau Road and Bisnet Road. 2 black terns, 12 short-billed
dowitcher, 1 greater yellowlegs and 3 lesser yellowlegs at the Blenheim Sewage
Lagoons.

birders,

A adult Mew Gull was observed with hundreds of Ring-billed gulls flying out
of a newly tilled field "around" the Holiday Beach area. I mentioned
"around" because these areas are private property and access will be denied,
but if one were to go to Holiday Beach perhaps one may find the bird there
or other marsh areas where Ring-bills may rest/feed.

from Pelee: take essex rd.20(old18)west going through the town of Kingsville
then harrow to the 4 corners of Malden Centre. At Malden Centre turn
left(south) and go about 2km and you will see the sign on the right.

Good Luck,

Dean Ware
