The adult Laughing Gull was seen this morning by many birders in the field
west of Halls Road. It flew around several times, but sometimes was
inconspicuous when in landed on the furrowed ground. Exit 401 to Salem
Road in Ajax, turn south to Bayly and follow left (east). Halls Road goes
south just west of Lakeridge Road. Best viewed about 1 km south of Victoria.
With today's report of Arctic Terns west of Ottawa, birders should check
all small terns in southern Ontario, particularly terns seen in places
where they are infrequent, but also scope regular flocks of Commons and
Forster's.
Good birding,
Ron Pittaway
