Lake Huron, local rivers and many inland lakes are open now but ducks have not
arrived in large numbers yet. Tundra Swans are occasionally being observed in
southern parts of the county. Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Grackles, and
Brown-headed Cowbirds have all arrived this week. Turkey Vultures are also
back. Northern Shrikes and Rough-legged Hawks are still being observed
throughout the region.

The Varied Thrush is still being observed in Southampton on Birch Street (take
highway 21 south, turn right on South St, then left on Birch Road).

A late Snowy Owl was observed south of the region on Wellington Road 109
between Teviotdale and Harriston. It was on the west side of the highway just
south of fire number 6416.
