Hi Everyone
Birded Amherst Island this morning and observed 15-20 Long-eared Owls in the "Owl Woods". Didn't see any Northern Saw-whets but they can be hard to find. Other birds of interest included a late Eastern Phoebe, 3 Fox Sparrow and 1 Hermit Thrush. Viewing conditions off the Southshore Road were very good and 100+ Common Loon, 42 Horned Grebe and small numbers of White-winged Scoter, Red-breasted Merganser and Long-tailed Ducks were noted. In the open fields Red-tailed and Rough-legged, Northern Harrier and American Kestrel were noted.
                                                       good birding
