Heavy cloud cover returned in the afternoon bringing with it a bit of rain by late afternoon. Winds were light to moderate varying from east to east-northeast. Raptor Observations: There was a very active migration underway by the second hour of the count and even though the activity peaked in the middle of the day, there were still good numbers of birds moving right up to just before the beginning of the rain. With poor weather forecast for the next couple of days, it is not surprising that birds were eager to move right up to the last possible moment. Much of the flight was overhead, particularly during the peak movement at midday and included some very good looks at many of the birds. Highlighting the day was a light-morph Rough-legged Hawk, notable in that we seem to be having an off year with regards to this species. Included in the Red-tail movement was a juvenile dark-morph bird.
